Song Cam Shipyard, part of Damen – Song Cam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., is a joint venture between Damen Group (Netherlands) and Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company, based in Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong. Established in 2007 with a charter capital of nearly VND 855 billion, the venture sees Damen holding a 70% stake, while Song Cam Shipbuilding holds 30%.

Originally, the company started as a small workshop owned by Vietnamese entrepreneur Bach Thai Buoi. In the 1950s, facing stiff competition from foreign capital, Buoi had to sell the workshop to the French capitalist-owned Xo Pha company. Later, Vietnamese businesspeople reclaimed the workshop, continuing production. Over its 70-year history, Sông Cấm Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company has evolved from a modest mechanical workshop to a modern facility capable of building and repairing state-of-the-art ships.

Geographical Location:

Damen – Song Cam Shipyard is located in Hoang Dong Commune, Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City, conveniently near the center of Hai Phong. Situated along the banks of the Song Cam River, the shipyard enjoys strategic transport links and efficient logistics.

The shipyard covers an area of 42 hectares, with a total investment of 65 million euros, making it one of Vietnam’s most significant shipbuilding projects, bringing cutting-edge European resources and technology to the country.

Infrastructure Upgrade Strategy:

• Phase 1: Features a 3,000-ton ship lift platform, a ship finishing workshop capable of producing 6-8 ships annually, and an administrative building, with an expected output of 40 ships per year.
• Phases 2 and 3: Aim to increase production capacity to 80 ships per year and invest in a hull assembly line to handle larger volumes of ship hulls.
